Adapting the body project to a non-western culture: a dissonance-based eating disorders prevention program for Saudi women

The main aim of this study was to test the feasibility an adapted version Body Project for young Saudi women as their eating and body issues are comparable western culture linked internalization westernization. also aims assess predictors attrition preliminary effectiveness. intervention local in collaboration with a co-director Collaborative. 48 undergraduate females were recruited, mean age 19.16 years (SD = 1.23), baseline BMI (M 24.42, SD 5.46). Eating pathology, image, comorbidities assessed pre post self-report measures. is feasible women. Participants willing enrol, they found useful, understandable, enjoyable. There no difference between completers non-completers. effect sizes similar or higher than other effectiveness trials cultures. A cognitive dissonance-based disorders prevention can be applicable across cultures where westernization influence. yet affirmed.
